What exactly is 21 Day Fix?
The 21 Day Fix is an exercise and diet program which focuses on short, fat burning workouts, and portion control of healthy foods. You work out once each day and follow a simple diet plan. It was just what I needed to jump start weight loss and loved it so much that I will be doing it again! Here is what I thought...
Pros:
1. Only 30 Minutes!
Your 30 minute workout includes a warm up AND cool down! So, it really can work into your busy schedule.
2. Variety! Each Day of the Week is a Different Workout

3. Minimal Equipment!
Just a mat and 2 sets of weights or resistance bands. I used 5 pound and 10 pound weights: I was already working out with these sets, so I didn't buy any new equipment. And you can find these in your gym and most hotels.
4. Realistic!
It was great to have all skill levels in the video, and participants that showed how to do modifications. Because let's be honest, we shouldn't be able to do everything or we wouldn't need the Fix! So from a girl using small weights (1 to 2 pounds) to big, burly guys battling to get in the reps, it was encouraging to see others struggle like I was!
5. Food Plan Included!
The focus here is portion control. With boxes to manage your meals and snacks throughout the day, you don't have to think about if you eating the right amount, the Fix tells you! And you get to drink those amazing Shakeology protein drinks!
Cons
1. Fast Paced
It is a fast paced workout with very little instruction time; so for the first week, I fumbled through the workouts. By the 3rd week, I had it down and was really enjoying it.
2. Results Not As Expected
You can't walk into this expecting to look like a Beachbody Fitness Expert after 21 days - even though they promote it in that way. Everyone is different, you will see results, you just need to have realistic expectations.
3. You Might Panic
When you see the food portion boxes, you might have a slight panic moment - "I'm going to starve!" But you won't: It really is a lot of food!
Overall Impressions
I really enjoyed it, and I followed the plan every day. Even though I didn't achieve rock, hard abs, I did loose 3 pounds, and a total of 4 1/2 inches (1 1/2 inches my waist, and 1 inch each in hips, butt and thighs).
The portion control gave me a "light bulb" moment: I realized my normal portions were way too much! My family has a slogan: "they can always count on Sylvia to eat" Well - Sylvia needed to not eat SO much!
I also feel stronger and see muscle toning and definition.
What's Next?
I've incorporated the portion control into my daily diet now. Doing something every day for three weeks creates a habit. And I loved the program so much, I will be doing it again starting August 14th and would love company! I will go through all of my lessons learned so that you won't have the learning curve I did! I'll provide tips and cheat sheets and meal planning ideas, too.
