A Few of My Favorite Things from Star Wars Half Marathon - The DarkSide!

This was the race we had all been looking for - The second leg of the Kessel Run!  It was so exciting for all of us who started this journey in January to finish in Walt Disney World! (It's still hard to believe that we have 2 Star Wars Races!)

And although I went into the weekend with bronchitis and not feeling well, I was still overjoyed to be there!  It was a weekend packed full of Star Wars fans and lots of fun! And I thought I'd share a few of my favorite things from the weekend:


1. The Expo
The Health and Fitness Expo is always packed with vendors, and information, and new things to try!  Of course I roamed every isle and visited my favorite shops...

and had the opportunity to work at the KT Tape Booth!

This was the highlight of the Expo for me!  I live by KT Tape, and taping other runners was really humbling to me.  Running with an injury myself I could relate to all the stories.  I was able to meet real people, with real problems, and provide a service, that, when they stood up - made a difference!

(And let's not forget that wonderful Southern Comfort Margaritta with a Death Star Cube I had on the way out! )

2.  The Costumes
Costumes are another one of my favorite things!  I love watching over the coming months how people plan and prepare their outfits for the race!

And personally, my plans for the 5K and 10K worked out great:  Darth Minnie and Snow White StormTrooper were present and accounted for!

And I saw so many great costumes throughout the weekend!

The Star Trekkies were the best!  I saw at least a dozen running and my favorite slogan was "I thought they said Star Trek Race"

(Unfortunately, I did not feel well Sunday morning and opted to run cooler:  I had to leave Jedi Belle behind.  I'll keep her for next year)

3.  The 501st Florida Garrison
Many, Many Thanks go to these guys who volunteer to cheer us all on!  It would not have been the same without them!

4.  The Course
I loved the Mile Markers along the course!  Each Mile Marker was donned with a Dark Side Character and made running every mile lots of fun!

and of course I stopped for Chewie!  (Even though I think we waited about 30 minutes!)

and the Photo Booths with all your favorite characters available at the end of the race:  Brilliant Idea!

5.  Star Wars Stars
Even though we don't have the Hyperspace Hoopla anymore to enjoy our favorite Star Wars Stars, I was able to catch up with my favorite Star Wars Running Stars!

6.  The Dark Side Has Cookies

Oh My!  The runDisney snack box had Oreos!!!  The best snack box ever!

7.  I was the Rebel Spy!
Finally!

Of course, these were just a few of my favorite things!  By far the most important thing to me was being there with family and dearest friends and living the Star Wars Life that we Love!
