Completely Geeky Weekend

This coming weekend, May 2-3, 2015, you can join me in celebrating 3 amazing events: Free Comic Book Day, National Lemonade Day AND Star Wars Day!

Free Comic Book Day will be Saturday, May 2rd at local participating comic book stores!  Free Comic Book Day is like a mini Comic Con with cosplay, artitsts, authors and parties national wide:  Meet the artists and authors in person, pick up Free Comics and other Free Gifts!  

Everyone Will Be At FREE Comic Book Day!

Comic books are an awesome tool to build curiosity, imagination and promote reading, and there are a wide range of genres to fit every interest and age.  Currently, I'm reading The Walking Dead comics but plan on grabbing a copy of Guardians of the Galaxy or Avatar or relive my childhood and pickup an Archie comic!

National Lemonade Day, May 3rd, is an educational program to empower children and youth to become the business leaders and social advocates for our future.

Locally, in Mississippi and Louisiana, you can register for National Lemonade Day at your favorite Cane's location!

Each student is given a backpack and Entrepreneur Workbook that teaches lessons on budgeting, building and promoting their lemonade stand.  The children are encouraged to spend their earnings wisely:  saving, spending and giving back.   As a parent, you are the mentor who helps make this venture a success, and National Lemonade Day website has lots of ideas available.  So, what are you waiting for?  Head on down to Cane's, get your workbook, make some lemonade, and enjoy learning as a family!

Star Wars Day is Monday, May 4th, and is a celebration of Star Wars books, films, comics, fashion and culture!  It's another opportunity to share the fun of Star Wars with your family.

Start Your Day by heading to the Disney Store!  The first 100 guests in each store will receive a free gift with purchase. 

Not to be outdone by the Disney Store, Toys R Us will also be holding a May 4th Promotion: Free Legos and the opportunity to meet Geoffrey the Giraffe!

Locally, the Aquarium of the Americas will be celebrating all weekend long!  Discount admission, games, and Storm Troopers are some of the many things your family can enjoy along with this amazing exhibit!

And Don't forget our Virtual Challenge to run 4.56 miles before 1:23 pm in honor of Star Wars Day!  We will be running this locally on Saturday, May 2nd, at the Pass Christian War Memorial Park:  I'd love to see you there!
